Now don't laugh but I have been reading Augustine of Hippo's concept about time. The idea of how the present is linked to time past and time future...why? Well because the web is a time shifting tool, in fact what is now on the web is totally different to everyone.
Now is when you log on, when you go to that page.....
I tend to find that answers are out there, often from the past...and little Augustine has now disappointed me. He talks about how the mind regulates, though 3 processes
Expectation
Attention
Memory
He states that the future which it expects passes through the present, to which it attends, into the past which it remembers
That is so true and why social media is a wonderful tool to create brand engagement. It has the ability to
Show your brand can match if not exceed your expectation
Grab your attention away from the competitors
By constant content....remain in the front of your memory.
So your social media content can show the future which the customer expects whilst passing through the present on your site, to which it attends. Thats the good news.
The problem is this....it also remembers the past and matches their past interaction with you with what you are saying now about the future!
