To explain I want to slightly change a wonderful quote from Barbara Adam about art
"social marketing externalizes and fixes beliefs, experiences, expectancies, fears and hopes in a form that can be shared"
I love this quote because it splits art into form and content and I believe this should be the same for social media....too often the form is confused with the content and vice versa.
When the blog, the tweet, the update, the podcast...whatever social media form you choose...is seen as a canvas to express, rather than a board on which you can post....then your social media can come alive.
Dad used to say to me.....'it's not what you think, it's how you think...it's not what you show, it's how you show...it's not just about the time you invest in creating your ideas in business, it is the time you invest in how to express those ideas....a business is a canvas, you are the painter creating the exhibition which people will want to pay to come and see"
Funny, Dad didn't live long enough to see the impact of social marketing.....but if he had, he would have been excited as it is removing all the excuses of why you can't express, the canvas is already provided...
