No one is indispensable.
But some people are missed more than others.
When people believe they are indispensable they prevent talent, they hoard information, they react rather than create and copy rather than predict. Being indispensable is not a position you want to be in....especially in the modern social business world.
Instead the aim must be to be missed. People who are missed are much harder to replace than the people who believed they were indispensable.
Because humans are tough critics and to be missed you must have been
- A good listener
- A great faciliator
- A person who sees the person not the role
- A deliverer on promises
- A person who could inspire others
This week.....ask a question to yourself and others
If I left...what would you miss most...and what would you miss least of all...
