I have been involved in social media, social marketing for seven years and every now and then I write in my moleskine lessons I learn about myself and about social media - here are my latest 12 which may help you, the way they have helped me.
- To convince others, you first need to convince yourself
- You can compensate for a lack of skill but you can't compensate for a lack of an idea
- Social media loves stories, but when you look at a story it has in built conflict - don't be afraid of conflict it is what creates the emotion
- Only comparison to make is the to the person you can be...
- You will never catch up with technology - that is not the problem, that is the opportunity!
- It is not about being significant to all people...it is about being significant to some people
- When you think there is nothing you can do with a problem...there is one thing that you can do....start thinking...thinking is the foundation of solutions. When your eyes can't see, remember your brain may well be able to....
- Reputation is to a brand what health is to people - it needs maintaining, it needs you to take it seriously....
- Awareness is good but only attention will create a change in behaviour
- Social media is a vehicle, your content your fuel but never forget it is the driver who makes it all happen - and decides where it is going
- The difference between traditional marketing and social marketing is not technology, it is a mindset....the former takes money to persuade people to believe what you think, social marketing takes time to show that you think like the customer
- Different views are not argument...different views are democracy
What have you learned?
