Small business marketing and indeed any marketing ideas is about reaching out to a community. That community may be local, it may be around shared interests globally...but in some way your
business marketing is attempting to reach further, deeper or longer....it is about amplification with the listener choosing to what level.
Recently I have been working with a really talented rock guitarist who is using social media to build his fan base (You can listen to his new track for free at mynameisace.com). In the past he has worked with labels and different producers but was always geared towards commercial music rather than his love of rock guitar, too niche for many record companies.
It struck me that we must never forget the true power of social media - the power given to individuals to control their own career. Yes it is tough, yes it takes time....but access is there to develop your own marketing campaign. On the time front, in the past musicians would travel miles to play local gigs to a few people as they build their reputation, so does it take more time?
Ace Connell says
"Like anything......it is really a change in time usage. Travel time down, social media time up and best of all the time management change moves the guitarist from being stuck in a car to being in contact with their fan base directly....the fans become part of the album process."
We sometimes get stuck with thinking of how large brands are using social media but when you take a look at how personal brands can forge a career which was previously unattainable...then we remember why would loved social media when it came into being......have a listen to mynameisace's latest single, Beyond.
